Fried Northern Pike

​Did you know that northern pike can make exceptional table fare? Some believe northern pike provides a better dinner than walleye or panfish, if cooked and cleaned properly.

​​​​​​​COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Make sure fillets are dry
Sprinkle salt and pepper over the fillets
Place fillets into your favorite fish breading
Pre-heat vegetable oil in your deep fryer to 350 degrees (for pan-fried fillets, preheat half-inch of vegetable oil on a medium flame until it boils)

Deep-fry breaded fillets in hot oil until they float to the surface and are golden brown
Place cooked fillets on a plate lined with paper towels
Cover fillets with paper towels and lightly press on them to remove excess oil

The best-tasting pike are in the 20- to 25-inch range, and cooked immediately (or within 48 hours). Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
