Mik Lurch was a well-known tackle store in northwest Indiana. Though known for its occasional fish fry, most came for owner Mike Starcevich's mouth-watering baked beans. This is an excellent side dish to serve with—fish,ribs, or chicken, or almost anything—and leaves your guests wanting more!
Beans 7 lbs. Bush Baked Beans 15 oz. can of kidney beans 15 oz. can of black beans 15 oz. can of cannellini beans 15 oz. can of northern beans 15 oz. can of pinto beans Meat 1 pound of chorizo 1 pound of ham 1 pound of bacon 1 pound of smoked sausage 1 pound of hotdogs Vegetables and seasonings 3 large onions 10 jalapeño peppers 2 red peppers ¼-cup minced garlic 2 oz. liquid smoke 1 cup of honey 1 cup of brown sugar 2 (two) 18 oz. bottles of Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce
Instructions Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Slice meat and vegetables into quarter sized portions. Start by adding the beans and cut up meat in a large cooking pot. Mix beans and meat together in pot, then add the remaining ingredients. Place pot in oven for 3 hours, mixing occasionally.
