Sight fishing for cobia

10/12/2016

Before the cool winds of winter come, sight fishing for cobia is productive and fun. Cobia are quick to react to artificial lures, so when you see them moving, cast ahead of them to the spot where they will soon be. They can be found traveling the shallows around pilings, navigational markers, bouys, and anchored boats. Be on the lookout for schools of rays and other large gamefish, as cobia can be found in the pack. An excellent bait for sight fishing is the Shimano Waxwing, a sub-surface jig that can be casted long distances. This stealthy approach will help you put more cobia in the boat.
