Fiberglass rods are making a comeback in a big way! Over the years, fiberglass rods have taken a backseat to graphites, which have a crisper feel and sensitivity. But for all their strengths, these extra-fast graphite rods do not excel at presenting crankbaits, the fast action often pulling the bait from fish’s mouths. Many pros held tight to their fiberglass rods, knowing that the slower or moderate action allows bass to engulf the crankbaits. Shimano’s Zodias lineup offers a few new fiberglass crankbait rods. They are available in two models: 7’ medium power, moderate action, for pinpoint accuracy in shallow-water crankbait fishing; and a 7’6” medium-heavy power, moderate action for casting distance and to fish your crankbait deeper. This VIDEO explains that the art of crankbait fishing with a glass rod has reemerged to better suit the crankbait fishermen.
