During the spawning season there are key variables to observe that can help you find bedding fish. Pay particular attention to water temperature and moon phases. Bass aren’t that different from deer going into the rut––they instinctively know when the daylight hours are long enough to be conducive for a productive spawn. This usually occurs in the upper Midwest portion of the U.S. between April and June, when the water temperature is somewhere between 55 and 65 degrees, and during the first full moon during that time frame. When these variables align, it’s time to begin your search!
