Although redfish can be caught all year round, springtime is when the bite turns on. Redfish can be found in a variety of habitats, including grassy flats, channels and on beaches. Covering grass flats with a large topwater or Shimano Waxwing is a surefire way to capture schooling redfish. In river channels, redfish are feeding on crabs, so rigging live crabs is the way to go. Look for troughs on the beach, as this is where the redfish will reside. Get out that surf rod and make long casts of live-baitfish into the troughs and you will find redfish.
